My name is Dave Allcott.
I have active careers in software development and classical music. I am also active in transformational work.
For over 20 years I worked for major companies (Symantec, Rational, IBM, Cisco, Samsung) as a software engineer, manager and consultant. I currently operate my own consulting operation, doing training and custom software development. My current project is a software implementation of certain aspects of Martin Heidegger’s model of Human Being’s existence, specifically the implementation of a primitive ‘there’.
For over 35 years I have been an active professional classical musician. I have worked in major symphony orchestras playing viola with the Milwaukee Symphony, la Scala Opera Orchestra, Rhode Island Philharmonic (Principal). I am currently playing with the Napa Symphony orchestra and am the Assistant Principal Viola with the Monterey Symphony Orchestra.
Beginning in the late 70’s, I have participated in a number of ‘transformational technologies’. Some of these are: “Radical Honesty”, “The Church of Scientology” courses, various transformational management courses and “Landmark Education”.
I believe that phenomenological ontology provides the basis for new possibilities for human beings. In the field of personal growth this is often called transformation. Phenomenological ontology is most rigorously explicated in the work of Martin Heidegger. It has been addressed in many disciplines, more or less successfully, and throughout history in many fields: writing, education methodologies, art, music, and religious/spiritual disciplines.
I believe a rigorous ontological formalism can provide a basis for inter-community dialog and sharing best practices for improving the quality of human beings lives. This will facilitate moving towards a world that works for everyone with no one left out.
