The Wonder of Listening

We are captivated by watching people perform and listening to them talk.

Undoubtedly there are biological, neurological, and psychological explanations for this activity we exhibit with other people. I am interested in getting a more direct experiential access to the phenomenon. Our theorizing and explanations cover up important aspects that if acknowledged, would make a difference in our effectiveness in communication and more generally being with one another.

The enthrallment that happens to us when we listen to others talk. We are captivated by it; entranced by it. A combination of how language works and the enthrallment of being with others as they act, as they perform before us.
